Adoption Center Hours

In August of 2018, C.A.R.E. opened a dog and cat Adoption Center at 4927 Main Street in Skokie.

For the month of August 2018 we will have limited days and times that we will be open to view our cats and dogs while we recruit and train our volunteer caretakers and client service staff. Adoptions will be conducted by appointment for the month of August while we train adoption counselors. 

If you see a cat or dog on our website that you are interested in, please fill out our cat questionnaire or dog questionnaire and a C.A.R.E. adoption counselor will contact you to answer any of your questions and to set up a meet and greet with the pet.

The building is almost ready and we're awaiting our first adoptable pets, but before we can get them ready for adoption, we need volunteers! 

Please come to the Recruitment Fair on Sunday July 22 to see the new Adoption Center and see how you can help.

Finishing Touches

IT'S COMING TOGETHER! The first night of volunteering at the new Adoption Center in Skokie was very productive. C.A.R.E. has the best volunteers on the planet - they can do anything!! They assembled cat furniture, cleaned and put away shelving and furniture, and much more. WE WILL BE OPEN SOON, STAY TUNED FOR THE OFFICIAL DATE.

The signage is up and the bike racks are in place too! Did you know our building is right next to the bike path?

Mural and Kennels

THE NEW ADOPTION CENTER in Skokie is really shaping up! The mural by The Bird Machine is complete - and so amazing. Dog kennels are nearly finished. Up next: cabinets, countertops, sinks. 

April 2018 Updates

Closer and closer . . . each day we get closer to completion of the Skokie Adoption Center at 4927 Main Street. Here are some photos taken on 4/13, showing lots of progress. The vestibule is shaping up nicely. The catios (spaces for cats/mostly in groups) are nearly complete. Doors to rooms were delivered and will be installed next week. We're getting excited...

March 2018 Updates

New walls are going up. It makes a big difference to see the space separated out for its intended purposes. We're not there yet, but we're getting there.

Interior Progress

THERE IS MORE PROGRESS to report at C.A.R.E.'s Skokie Adoption Center!
Dog kennels are being built today. Also, the windows showing single cats in the room behind reception were cut into the wall. Next week, the sprinkler system required by Skokie's Fire Department will be installed. Step by step, we're getting there...

New Lighting

New exterior lighting fixtures have been installed. Very nice, aren't they?

November Building Update

Exterior work continues with paving and the outside dog exercise areas enclosed with 8-foot wooden fencing. Also complete are the enclosures for waste collection. Everything meets Village of Skokie code requirements. Good progress!!!
